Roast Beef


Spanish Roast Beef


4 1/2 lbs. Roasting beef, like rump or round cuts
1 cup Plain flour
4 tsp. Olive oil
2 large Onion, sliced thin into rings
11/2 tsp. Sea salt
1 tsp. Freshly ground black pepper
4 whole Cloves
3 tsp. White vinegar
3 whole Bay leaves
1 tbsp. Ground cinnamon
4 tsp. Tomato catsup
3 cups Water
4 oz . Semi-sweet baking chocolate, grated


Flour roasting beef, meanwhile in medium heat put a medium skillet and brown the meat in oil on all sides.

Remove roast from pan and set aside.

Put the onion rings into pot (Dutch oven) then add salt and pepper.

Put the roast on top of onion rings, add the cloves, vinegar, bay leaves, cinnamon, catsup and water and put the lid on the pot.

Let the meat boil and simmer about 2 1/2 hours or until roast is tender.

Add the grated chocolate and stir around roast.

And cook for another 15 minutes and remove the cloves and bay leaves

Serve warm.

Serve 8 people.
