Onion Bahji

 

Onion Bahji ( A favorite Appetizer)

Ingredients: (good for 12 pieces)

.
1 cup Garam flour
1/4 tsp. Chili powder
1/2 tsp. Ground coriander
1/2 tsp. Ground cumin
pinches Salt and Freshly ground black pepper to taste
4 tbsp. Yogurt
1/4 cup Cold water
2 large Onion, peeled and thinly sliced
some Vegetable oil for frying

Procedure:

Put the gram flour into a bowl, add the chili powder, coriander cumin and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Stir in the yogurt, water and sliced onion and mix very well together.

One third fill a large, deep frying pan with oil and heat until hot.

Drop heaped spoonfuls of the mixture, a few at a time, into the hot oil and use two forks to neaten the mixture into rough ball shapes.

Fry the bhajis until rich golden brown and cooked through, turning frequently.

Drain on absorbent towels and keep warm while cooking the remainder in the same way.

Serve while it is hot and warm.
